Counselling in Stansted, Bishop's Stortford, and Online

Supporting You on Your Journey to a Better Place

Are you struggling with feelings of depression, anxiety, or low self-esteem? Do you find yourself repeatedly running into the same relationship problems? Perhaps you have some insecurities that stem from toxic relationships – both past and present – that reduce your energy levels and inhibit your capacity for making choices about your life in confidence. If this is the case, I am here to give you personalised, friendly counselling in Stansted, Bishop's Stortford, and online that helps you move past what’s bothering you and feel more at peace with yourself.

All sessions are 50 minutes long. If you are a tad nervous about reaching out, feel free to give me a call on the phone for a no-cost, no-obligation chat over the phone before getting started.

ANXIETY

We all experience anxiety at various points in our lives. For many people, though, that feeling can be there all the time – like when a fire alarm is going off despite there being no fire. You might be constantly overwhelmed, catastrophise over certain issues, or experience panic attacks. It could be that you are feeling social anxiety as we come out of the pandemic and start going out again. Together, and in a way that’s comfortable for you, we will look to uncover the roots of your anxiety and come up with a bespoke method for managing these emotions in the future.

Depression

I know that it can feel like things will never improve when you have depression. Some people live with depression for a while, and they assume it’s just a fact of life, but I am here to guide you towards a better mindset. Working through these feelings takes time, but you can work through them. It is possible. This is a strictly non-judgemental space to examine your negative thoughts, learn where they come from, and, eventually, replace these interpretations with healthier, more positive beliefs.

Sandra's counselling helped me immensely; I felt very anxious before, but now feel surprisingly calm. The strategies she taught me have been very beneficial

Complex Trauma

When we talk about issues like depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, addiction, and many other issues, the key theme lying behind each one is often trauma. We all experience trauma in our lives, both in childhood and as one-off events in the present, and they can come in different forms, such as neglect or abuse. No matter what you have experienced, or how long ago it was, trauma prevents you from living in the moment and shows up in how you think and behave, leading to a range of issues. We will engage with this complex trauma in a gradual, compassionate, curious way – giving you the space you need to build a picture of the role trauma plays in your life.

Bereavement

If you have recently lost a loved one or suffered a painful loss of any kind, I know that going through it alone is hard. You may feel isolated, numb, angry, resentful, or deeply unmotivated at the moment. All of these emotions are valid; there is no right way to grieve, nor do we necessarily go through the ‘five stages’. Bereavement affects people in different ways, and I am here to help you process these emotions in your own way, without any fear of judgement.

Relationships

I work with individuals who are struggling with relationship issues of all kinds. It could be that you are running into the same problems with romantic partners or friends, or perhaps you are struggling with conflicts within your family. By putting our therapeutic relationship at the centre of our work, we will look closely at what you bring into your interactions with others, how others make you feel, and how this links to your mental wellbeing. Having this increased awareness and understanding will naturally allow you to move forward with greater confidence in the future.
