Counselling Tutor provide excellent training and support in the many courses they offer. I am a qualified supervisor having achieved the Advanced Certificate in Clinical Supervision including Online and Telephone Working.
My style of supervision is to embrace the work of the supervisee in their work with their client, ensuring that the supervisee's wellbeing is also a prominent consideration. The work the client brings can have a triggering effect on the supervisee. By providing the space to process what this might mean to the supervisee can be very liberating and empowering. The multitude of life experiences, such as attachment, neurodiversity, disabilities, bereavement, trauma can sometimes inhibit the work of the supervisee, in that they are operating on a subconscious level and are out of an individual's awareness. But the process can deepen the awareness the supervisee is experiencing in the counselling session.
A supervisor can explore what these potential threads to can mean to the supervisee, especially if there are parallel experiences that are triggering, leading to possible transference and counter-transference experiences.
However, as well as the supervisee's well-being, 7 mode/eye model is a thorough and encapsulating process to ensure all aspects of the supervision work are covered: By looking focusing on the varying relationships between the counsellor/supervisee; the client, supervisor, the context of the client, the observation of the client; focus on the interventions made by the supervisee, the awareness of the complication of dual relationships, all bring varying perspectives which can lead to very valuable and rewarding insights.
The supervisee's autonomy is also prized, in that they are aware of their professional and ethical responsibility, whilst at the same time feeling supported by their supervisor.
